Technical Information

The information below is for reference. Final order data is subject to the technical agreement and product nameplate.

I. Product Overview

The LQ series colloid pump—also known as a Roots pump, stainless steel rotary lobe pump, cam pump, universal transfer pump, yeast pump, butterfly pump, tri-lobe pump, pharmaceutical pump, hot-melt adhesive pump, particulate-handling pump, sludge pump, protein residue pump, or high-concentration slurry pump—operates by utilizing two synchronously counter-rotating rotors. As they rotate, they generate suction (vacuum) at the inlet to draw in the material to be transported. The two rotors divide the rotor chamber into several small spaces, operating in the sequence a-b-c-d: at position 'a', only chamber I is filled with the medium; at position 'b', a portion of the medium is enclosed in chamber B; at position 'c', a portion of the medium is also enclosed in chamber A; and at position 'd', chambers A and B connect with chamber II, discharging the medium to the outlet.

II. Product Features

1. All parts in contact with the medium (material) are made of high-quality stainless steel (SUS304, AISI316, or 316L), fully complying with sanitary standards.

2. Suitable for transporting media (materials) with high viscosity, high concentration, or solid particles.

3. Operating temperature range: -30°C to +200°C.

4. High pressure capability; suitable for long-distance, high-resistance, and quantitative transfer.

5. Low rotational speed (typically 200–600 rpm); transported materials retain their original quality without undergoing physical or chemical changes.

6. No contact between rotors ensures zero wear over long-term use; the pump operates smoothly with low noise and high efficiency.

7. Innovative design allows for easy installation, maintenance, and cleaning, ensuring internal hygiene and production cleanliness.

III. Application Scope of LQ Series Colloid Pumps

The LQ series colloid pump was developed by introducing, assimilating, and refining advanced foreign technology. Compared to similar pumps from abroad, it offers high precision, lower costs, and an innovative design that fills a gap in the domestic market, finding wide application across various industries. 1. Compared to other pumps, the main differences are as follows:

a) This is a positive displacement pump; the flow rate can be precisely controlled, and it can easily be configured as a variable-displacement pump. In contrast, the output flow of other pumps (such as centrifugal pumps) cannot be controlled and decreases as resistance increases. Additionally, this pump possesses strong self-priming capabilities, whereas centrifugal pumps must be filled with liquid before operation.

b) This pump operates at low speeds—typically between 200 and 600 rpm—ensuring the material is discharged smoothly without damaging its composition. Centrifugal pumps, however, operate at high speeds; the material is subjected to strong impacts and centrifugal forces, often resulting in inconsistent composition when transporting mixtures and compromising the quality of the finished product. This pump offers an ideal solution to this issue, making it particularly suitable for transporting mixtures or materials containing solid particles.

c) This pump is capable of transporting highly viscous substances, earning it the name "colloid pump," a capability centrifugal pumps lack. d) It can easily be configured for high-pressure output (e.g., 15 kgf/cm²), making it suitable for long-distance or high-resistance quantitative transfer.

2. Comparison with (thick slurry pumps):

Both are positive displacement pumps, so their performance characteristics are fundamentally similar—capable of steadily conveying high-viscosity materials and generating high discharge pressures. However, screw pumps have a significant drawback that renders them unsuitable for sanitary applications: their non-streamlined surfaces and numerous internal cavities make it impossible for them to meet sanitary standards; furthermore, damage to PTFE or rubber cavity liners poses a risk of contaminating the conveyed product. In contrast, this pump features a streamlined rotor design and a rotor chamber virtually free of dead zones or non-metallic components. Consequently, it is far better suited for industries with strict sanitary requirements—such as food, beverage, and pharmaceuticals—especially given the increasing automation of production lines and the widespread adoption of Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, which further underscores the importance of choosing Qixing colloid pumps.
